THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS

The Northumberland Breakers 15U Girls had another busy weekend.  On Sat, Nov 26th they headed east to Trenton for their first OVA tournament against the some of the top teams in the east.
The girls faced off against the Storm Bolts and Ottawa Fusion in pool play to finish 2nd .  After a long wait they met up with Etobicoke Titans Black in the crossover.
After a hard fought match the Breakers fell short of victory which would lead them to meet the other Etobicoke team for the final match of the day.  Victory was just out of their grasp and they finished the day 7th.
The final outcome did not reflect the type of play the girls had throughout the day.  The Breakers really came together as a team and played excellent volleyball.

With spirits high the girls gathered together the following day off the court for team bonding and getting into the Christmas spirit.
They ventured to the Northumberland Mall in Cobourg to purchase gifts for the Giving Tree which provides gifts to less fortunate children.
They selected two needy children and set off through the mall to shop for presents.  They had a lot of fun selecting the perfect gifts and felt really good about helping out such a worthwhile cause.
As a memento of the day they gathered for a photo with Santa.  A truly great day – giving back in the spirit of the season.
The 15U Breakers are an amazing group of girls on and off the court…a pleasure to coach and to know.

Merry Christmas to all for the 15U Northumberland Breakers Girls !!!!

GREAT START

Northumberland Breakers 15U Girls had a busy volleyball weekend. They spent Saturday and Sunday at two different tournaments.
The team travelled to Scarborough on Sat, Nov 12th to compete in the Titans Invitational.  With new players, new lineups and new positions the team of 11 girls played 6 matches and finished the day in 4th.
They really came together as a team and demonstrated what they are capable of.  Excellent volleyball all around. This was just a warm up to the tournament they had lined up for the next day.
They travelled to Woodbridge for the Markham Stingers Invitational on Sun, Nov 13th.  Here, with the full team of 12 girls, they  finished first in their pool and went on to win the silver medal.
A great start and a great warm up for the OVA season which starts Nov 26th. It was a great weekend of volleyball, fun and team building. Awesome job Breakers!!!
