The Northumberland Breakers' Volleyball Club has excellent showing at the Canadian East National Indoor Volleyball tournament (May 2007)


They came by planes, trains and automobiles. Athletes, coaches and parents of the Northumberland Breakers 14U and 16U Men and Women Volleyball teams descended on Moncton, New Brunswick for the Canadian East National Indoor Volleyball tournament.  The tournament was held on May 11-13th with teams representing Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Prince Edward Island in attendance. The tournament saw a total of Nine 14UMen teams, twenty-four, 14U Women teams, twenty-one 16UMen teams and forty 16U Women  teams competing for medals at the National level. The Breakers 14U Women team completed a strong weekend coming away with a Silver medal at the Tier 2 level in the final match on Sunday. The 14U Men Volleyball team ended their season in high style winning a Bronze medal in Tier 1 level play. The 16U Women team finished the tournament tied for 5th in the Tier 2 division.  The  16U Men team finished their final Sunday afternoon game pulling out a 2-1 win over the Toronto Blues team to take the Tier 2 Gold medal.  All in all, an excellent showing for our young club!



Alexander Elliott was named to the All Star Team at the National Youth Volleyball East Open Championships held in Moncton, New Brunswick on May 11-13th (2007)

Alexander Elliott was named to the All Star Team at the National Youth Volleyball East Open Championships held in Moncton, New Brunswick on May 11-13th.  His 14U team won a Bronze medal in tier 1 level play.  Alexander has been a member of the Northumberland Breakers Volleyball Club for 3 years.  In 2006, he was presented with the Ontario Volleyball Association Award of Excellence at the Provincial Championships held in Toronto.  A dedicated and committed athlete, Alexander was selected MVP for the Northumberland Breakers 14U Mens volleyball team at the Breakers year end sports celebration held on May 23rd.  Alexander is a grade 8 French Immersion student at CR Gummow Public School in Cobourg.

David West and Paul Ley won a Gold Medal in Tier 2 at the 2007 OVA Provincial Beach Volleyball Championships.  Congratulations boys!

Amanda Egan and Hannah Hubicki win Silver in Tier 2 at 2007 Canadian National Beach Vball Championships! Congratulations girls!
